Onced deemed a menace to society by a judge who sentenced him to 15 years in 1992, Randy Kearse, author, motivational speaker and entrepreneur served 13 years, 6 months and 2 days in federal prison. He returned to society with a new perspective, a fresh focus, and strong determination to succeed. Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y. Randy grew up in Farragut housing projects. He provides people with a formula to turn a negative situation into a positive opportunity.
While in prison he wrote the first of three books, Street Talk: Da Official Guide to Hip-Hop & Urban Slanguage. Upon his release he self-published Street Talk and 90 days later reecieved a traditional book deal from Barricade Books Inc. His second book is titled, Changin' Your Game Plan: How to use incarceration as a stepping stone for SUCCESS. CHANGIN YOUR GAME PLAN is about the journey of change one must embark upon while physically and/or mentally incarcerated that will lead to a positive, productive and successful life. This book is the blueprint for that success. For those incarcerated or formerly incarcerated, Changin Your Game Plan offers hope that one can in fact turn their life around and go on to live a positive life after prison. His most recenty released title is The Writing Game: How to Print, Publish, and Profit in the Book Industry. A self-publishing guide for the aspiring writer or seasoned writing veteran. The Writing Game will help you get your book outta your head and on to the bookshelves.
Randy is also very active in the community as a motivational speaker. Using his experiences and lessons learned living the street and prison life, he encourages young people to make positive choices and reject gangs, drugs, crime and violent conflict resolutions. Once a week he teaches a Changin' Your Game Plan Workshop at the Island Acadamey at the Rikers Island Detention Facility.
He's recieved numerous reviews and articles in newspapers and magazines. Appeared on the Colbert Report, Tyear TV, and Bronx Perspectives as well as a number of radio shows.
Randy Kearse is on a continual crusade to uplift and empower others, he proves that SUCCESS is attainable after incaceration.
